A scene from Pilsner Fest 2016! Each October, the Czech Republic's brewery Pilsner Urquell throws a celebration in honor of the anniversary of its world-famous lager. On 5 October 1842 Josef Groll first brewed the "Pilsner," immediately applauded as the first ever blonde lager and therefore responsible for the inspiration for more than 2/3 of beer ("pivo" in Czech) produced around the world today. The Fest offers a free party train with a round trip from Prague to Pilsen, where festival visitors can join in celebrating with live music, craft vendors, talent shows, bartending competitions and, of course, plenty of pivo.
